Alice Amazed is
a one switch game for one or two players. That is,
each player uses only a single button or switch for character control. This makes the game more accessible
to people with certain disabilities, but it is nevertheless a fun game for everyone.
Let's say we bit off more than we could chew with this one. The original draft called for 16 minigames. When the first of these coalesced into a Wonderland themed game and we realized the level of detail we had committed to, this was quickly revised to 10 (including the bonus pyramid). Despite an impromptu vacation from work and a 100+ hour final week of frenetic game making, the competition release came with only five of these, out of which three had no AI to speak of. The remaining games, while already in this version but without graphics and with no easy access, were put on hold.
Still, we were quite surprised with the amount of depth that can be given a one switch game. This project became an eye opener to understanding how the fun in simple game ideas can be amplified by eliminating unnecessary complexity in the controls.
The current version comes with plenty
of bug fixes and improvements, including a better overall game balance and one more minigame.
